It is Wednesday afternoon and we are preparing ourselves for all the wonderful church events that take place on a Wednesday evening in most Southern Baptist Churches.

As I look out my window this afternoon I am once again taken by the turn in the weather ( blue norther) and my mind has wandered into the rich subject of men I’ve known.

God is good at shaping our lives by men who we sometimes just brush up against.

My life has been touched and shaped by a very remarkable man whom I never knew personally.

Dr. Winifred Moore knew this man in Mc Nary County Tennessee and he was reportedly the “Best” sunday school teacher in this whole area of Tennessee. Dr. Moore said that he was so good at teaching the bible that his class was huge. The remarkable thing about this man was that he was blind. His preparation for teaching his class went something like this, every Sunday afternoon when he got home from church his wife would read the Sunday School Lesson to him from the Bible and he would begin to memorize the text, next came a lot of prayer and a request for rich illustrations through the week so the lesson would be applicable for living. Amazingly my life has been most assuredly touched by Winifred Moore...but only heaven will tell the story of how God used a blind man from Tennessee to touch a little preacher boy who touched the world for Christ and me as well.

Vance Havner once said: "The reason we are no more optimistic than we are is we all have a misty optic."

Oh God make us blind so that we might see...see You, see Your Truth.
